I still remember the day I came across a heart-wrenching article about a puppy who was abandoned at a local market. That article really did leave an indelible mark on my heart. I couldn’t help but feel deep inside a sense of empathy and compassion for the creature as I read through the plight of the puppy.
This poor puppy, Willow, was picked up from a local market, crying and begging for help. Her previous owners had abandoned her to fend for herself with no food, water, or shelter. I can only try to imagine the level of fear and desperation Willow must have been feeling all on her own in a crowded and very noisy market.
Her cries for help were a desperate plea for someone, anyone, to notice her and to come to her aid. Or probably it was in the absence of her previous owner who clearly did not care about her well-being or safety at all.
I read further to find Willow in the most critical condition when found: nearly no heartbeat, really low body temperature, and suffering from mange and scabies. She had also become extremely malnourished, which made her even more susceptible to diseases. I was truly shocked and appalled by the state of neglect that Willow had been put through. Who could have left a puppy in this condition, so helpless?
Willow’s story began to unfold differently when someone finally heard her crying and took her in. The rescuer provided Willow with medical care that she desperately needed, such as a warm bath and nutritious food so she could gain strength. I was relieved to know that Willow was finally receiving the care and attention that she deserved.
As I read further on, it was heartening to learn that Willow slowly started to make a recovery from what had happened to her. Willow started to gain some weight and grew an excellent appetite. She even played with her rescuer and other dogs, which told me that there was so much more in her to come out and thrive. I could not help but smile at the picture of Willow’s little tail wagging excitedly as she played with her new friends.
Further down the article, I was hit with the sad reality that many dogs, including Willow, go through every day. It’s estimated that there are some 5.9 million dogs living on the streets of the United States alone. Add 2.3 million more languishing in shelters, and the situation becomes truly dire. These numbers become overwhelming, and they light up the sign for the animal welfare organizations and people as a whole to come forward and take collective action in order to meet the crisis.
Reflection on Willow’s story made me understand that it wasn’t an incident involving only her. There are so many dogs like Willow who daily get left behind, abandoned to their own devices. These dogs aren’t some statistics; they are living, breathing beings that deserve our compassion, care, and attention.
Willow’s story also made me realize how crucial animal adoption is. There are so many dogs in shelters and on the streets; hence, it’s vital that we adopt a pet rather than buying a dog from a breeder or a pet store. By adopting a dog, we not only give a loving home to a well-deserved animal but also open up space in some shelter for another dog in need.
I walked away from the article to feel hopeful and new. Despite all Willow had gone through, it took the good deed of just one person for her to recover and flourish. Her story says a lot about compassion and the impact one person can make in the life of an animal.
At the end, Willow’s story left an indelible mark on my heart. It reminded me of the importance of treating all living creatures with kindness, respect, and compassion. Reflecting back on my experience reading Willow’s story, I am reminded that we could actually make a big difference in the lives of animals in need. We can all work to create a world where no dog needs to go through what Willow did. It means a world where each dog gets a loving home, nutritious food, and the attention that each of them deserves.
What is the use of adopting a dog?
Like the blog above shows, there are millions of dogs in need of a home. Who are abandoned and are struggling to find a new home and a new family who would love them and take care of them like their own.
Whenever someone decide to adopt a dog, their first approach is to find a breeder or buy a dog, while there are so many who need the home more than those who already have one. They need home, they need love, they need someone to be loyal to.
I know, people have their preferences but if we can give those lost souls a chance to happiness, why not give it to them? Why take the hope of an innocent creature away?
The only thing I am going to say here is, try to give happiness to those who need it desperately, and trust me on this, they can love more passionately than anyone known.
