It was like just another normal day, but yet another tragic rescue story. I was taking care of a pet that our team rescued two months ago when I got a phone call from a security guard.
He was working in a school which was just infront of an abandoned property. He noticed that for some time, there were a lot of noises coming. He didn’t gave it much thoughts up until it got worse.
He went near the locked gates to inquire the source of the voice. It heard like a cry of dog and his suspicion was proven correct when he looked inside.
There was a black dog trapped inside who was visibly very weak. His ribs were poking out of the skin and he was severely injured. That was when he put all the dots together and called us right away for the rescue.
I was there with my team within minutes. I inspected the situation myself and was shocked at what I saw. The dog looked like it was starving to death and could die any moment now.
We hurriedly broke the lock and opened the gates. He was in a very bad shape and health. It seemed like he wouldn’t survive. While we took him to the car, he fainted out of hunger and thirst.
We carried him in our arms to the car. Once he was settled in the passenger seat, we took our places and drove off to the hospital. We were there by his side all the time he being tested and injected with medicine.
He was so weak and thin but we were desperate to help him get through this alive and happy. We didn’t just want him to survive, but also get his charm and life back.
The doctors ran every sort of tests on him to detect any problem or disease but it turned out he was just starving badly. It was so heartbreaking to see that no one heard poor dog from the street and no one gave him food, which was the basic thing of survival.
It was impossible to imagine how much suffering he went through to end up being so weak and starved. But things were about to change for him now. We got him now and we were going to provide him with not only the basic needs of living, but also happiness and a huge loving and caring family.
We fed him all the nutritions and minerals rich food and added some prescribed supplements. He ate passionately. He ate like his life depended on it and ironically, it did depended on that one meal back then.
I was so happy to watch him eat and thinking that he was about to get a transformation. I couldn’t wait to give him love and care that he never got before. I was excited and couldn’t wait to take him to the shelter.
He was kept hospitalized for a week. He was fed well and the medicine continued. He was getting better day by day and after a week passed, he had enough strength to walk a few steps by himself.
Although he was doing great, he needed some assistance. We took turns to be there with him all the time so he won’t feel alone and scared. We wanted to tell him that we were there for him and he wasn’t alone anymore.
He was fed A/D cans to recover faster. We made the clinic safe for him to stay. After the week passed, he looked better than when we found him. The clinic insisted to let him be hospitalized for another few days but we have had waited enough.
We couldn’t wait for him to meet other dogs at the shelter. He would feel so much better with his identical species around. So we decided to take him to the shelter and take over the care and treatment.
So we ended up brining him to his new home. He was cheerful now that he was in a better condition. He greeted his fellow dogs with wagging tail and smily face. The others were happy to meet him too.
Everything happened and while he was recovering, I was busy thinking about how could someone so that to a dog? Why did they adopted him at the first place if they wanted to leave him to starve in an old mantion? How could they eat and sleep after knowing the fact that their dog is somewhere out thereon his own to starve to death.
The thoughts angered me even more but there was nothing I could do instead of giving him what they never did. To love him and care for him.
We put the environmental police on the case to find out who did that and why. And to get them punished for their sins. This time we were not letting it go.
But all that mattered for the time was taking care of the dog wholeheartedly. After three months, when he was fully recovered, he was adopted by a kind family who later named him Rockey.
He got his new home and they got a child of their own. I inspected the situation visiting there often myself and I can confirm that they were the best people he could find. They kept him like a king and he was loved. We were determined to give him a happy ending and we succeeded in doing so.
The feeling of joy and pride hit me when I rethink of all that happened. This was what I liked about my job so much was that I got to be the one who brought happiness on the face of innocent souls. This kept me peacefull and joyous.
Rockey because happy, chubby and he now loved being cuddled. He was outgoing now that he was cared for.
Evils of the world
Well, long ago, humans were created by the God to spread love and humanity among other creatures. But time after time, they developed into someone unrecognisable.
They became selfish and hurtful to not only the animals but also to fellow humans. The powerful people abused their powers.
And now there are two types of people, good and bad. It is in our hands to choose what we want to become and I hope majority of people choose the first option.
