I was new in south chaina due to some bsiness deals. I believed that every small town of every country held big stories to tell. And every story mattered. It was not my initial intentions to find a story but when I heard this one, I was too shocked to not inquired more.
I was walking by a street and I found a female dog waiting on the sidewalk for someone. I guessed she might be waiting for her owner. The atmosphere looked too fishy to not ask people about it.
So I started my quest of finding her story. The locals told me that her name was Stella. And she had been waiting there for five years for her dead owner. She roamed here and there but exactly at 4:30pm, she came out to sit infront of a car parking.
Asking around , I got to know that her owner used to work there at 4:30pm before he died. The locals told me that she was adopted in 2012 by him. They spent three years together, loving each other and caring for each other.
They told me that the owner had no other family or reletive apart from Stella. They were emotional support to each other. My eyes teared up hearing this heart melting tale.
They said that after her owner died five years ago in a car accident, she kept waiting for him to come back. His house was left alone and haunted until later after the government took it over.
Since then, nobody knows where she goes in the days but she is always there on the sidewalk, staring at the parking in wait of her owner.
The locals gave her food and water all the time. They even made her a small house near by the parking.
The other day when I passed by, I wondered how long she was going to wait more for a person that couldn’t possibly come. And how would she get over the fact that the only person who cared about her was no longer in this world.
Then a thought crossed my mind and I went near her. I brought some dog food along with me as I wanted to make sure she think of me as friendly and trustable.
I gave her the food and she ate it happily. I pat her head a few times and she god comfortable with me. So I brought her to my temporary appartment in China.
She played a lot with me the entire day and I could tell her spirit was lifted. But as soon as the hour hand of clock ticked four and the minute hand showed thirty, she got panicked. She started barking, looking at the front door.
I assumed she was missing her owner and wanted to go back. I opened the door and she rushed out towards the parking and the home that locals built for her. I followed her there and watched her stare at the parking for next three hours.
I took her back with me but the cycle repeated the next few days. Soon it was my time to leave the country but she wasn’t eager to come with me. She wanted to stay and wait for her owner who would never come.
But forcing her to come with me was just not fair to her. So I decided to leave her behind with at the mercy of locals. I took the contact number of someone nearby just to check on her time to time. I still wonder if she ever found out that the last of her family left her without will and that he did everything he could to not leave but it was not in his hands.
‘I hope she knows that she has been loved.’
All a dog need is love!
I say that a human can’t experience enough love and affection if he doesn’t have a dog in a lifetime. That is indeed true. And that is true for the dog also.
There exist some stray dogs who doesn’t get loved and cared. Who doesn’t even get enough food and shelter to survive. We bring those stories to you readers about those dogs who are rescued.
Those dogs later get the love and care they deserve. A dog provides a positive aura around in the environment when it is loved. It makes the owner happy and motivated towards everything.
In the end, I’ll say what I always do. Get that love from a pet. Give that love to a pet and experience a kind of relationship which not everyone is lucky enough to experience. Adopt a dog and you’ll find the depth of my words.
