This is the story of a dog who was dumped in front of an ashram right in front of me. When I looked into his eyes, he was fighting for life when he was dumped there. He probably wouldn’t have survived for a day. I was heartlessly shocked to see his condition.
He managed to crawl underneath an animal control truck waiting in pain and desperation. Until staff arrived in the morning to discover his frail body. 14 weeks old and 14 pounds, to already be in this condition means that he has likely been suffering his whole existence. Bentley’s condition is heartbreaking hairless, mangy, and covered in crust. Whatever the vet touches him, pus comes out of his pores. The situation was so dire that the vet struggled to place a catheter.
Severely anemic, with a red blood cell count of only 8% incredibly skinny with no muscle mass. So dehydrated, bed sores and ulcers on his hips. His prognosis was very uncertain. He stopped eating, so they inserted a feeding tube lots of different lines being placed, but all crucial for his survival.

The good thing is one week after his vitals are stable blood pressure and heart rate are steady, and hydration has improved. But his skin condition remains a concern because of his immobility and urinary incontinence. Days have past his condition continues to be closely monitored by out team. And finally, after two weeks.
Bentley started to show signs of improvement responding positively to the treatment and care he received. His infection has shown signs of subsiding, his skin has begun to heals and his energy started to return a promising sign that he’s regaining strength as he continues to recover.
Bentley started moving and discovering his surroundings as we took him for a walk for the first time. Bentley’s skin is almost crust free! With severe mange like his, skin may take time to recovery. But he’s come so far since he was first found and here is Bentley with one of his foster mommas Kait after a good sleep. He wakes up to do his exercises as a part of his rehabilitation routine.

After that he shows his joyful spirit while playing with his toys. He is no longer the same weak. Bentley we saw before now, he’s full of energy and vitality. It was a very long and hard month for the little guy but now he is finally showing remarkable health and spirits. As we continued walking him, his stamina gradually increased and he seemed more eager to explore his surroundings.
We took turns playing and petting him which helped him regain his trust and affection for us. Further aiding in his recovery and to make sure he gets the love and attention he needed. Now after two months he fully recovered and returned to his happy, healthy self like every puppy should be playful, energetic, and enjoying life to the fullest. His beautiful little eyes once dulled, shone with joy and happiness. Now, after this very long journey. Our little Bentley, is ready start a new life.
